Role Play Media Network

a community for rpg bloggers, podcasters, vidcasters, and their audiences

I know several of the publishers we have in this group, but I thought it might be cool to do a little introduction--link to your site, a short explanation of some of your titles, and perhaps what you're working on!

Right now, this is the biggest group on this fledgling network!! Huzzah!

Precis Intermedia offers an eclectic mix of mostly low-cost and easy-to-learn roleplaying and miniatures games. genreDiversion titles (HardNova 2, Coyote Trail, EarthAD 2, Mean Streets, and Ghostories) give you ready-to-go PDF games for under $5. Two-Fisted tales offers definitive pulp roleplaying. Warcosm pits fleets of starships against each other. New World Disorder pits killer gangs against each other. Disposable Heroes are the leading paper miniatures, available in print and as downloads. Active Exploits Diceless is a free downloadable rules system, with add-on setting books. Brutes is a fantasy miniatures microgame for under $3 (or free with any physical order). And that's just for starters. Plus, just about all PDFs can be printed to order at purchase or at a later time.

Current projects include:
Treasure Awaits! for retro but not clone dungeon-crawling.
Bold & Brave, the supers resource for genreDiversion 3E.
Warcosm Assault, the game of Starship Boarding Actions.
GnomeMurdered, the second edition of the world's simplest roleplaying game by the RPGPundit.

Precis Intermedia also processes sales for our friends at Better Mousetrap Games, Deep7, WordMill, Arion Games, and others.

I'm clash bowley. I own Flying Mice Games and run the Better Mousetrap Games consortium of publishers. I design, write, and illustrate games as well as publish. I designed StarCluster, Blood Games, the Cold Space series, and the In Harm's Way series of games, starting in 2002. StarCluster, Blood Games, and Sweet Chariot are all in their second editions now. I just released Commonwealth Space for the Cold Space line, and On Her Majesty's Arcane Service for the Blood Games line, and am working on In Harm's Way: StarCluster, melding the IHW military line with the StarCluster Science Fiction line.

I don't think you get much smaller than Mad Muse Studio when it comes to Small Press. We (and by we, I mean I) have one product out so far - Conventions for the Aspiring Game Professional. In fact, we weren't even a press until today, we'd just kind of slipped our work in with other friendly publishers.

Still looking for a logo... and a motto... and... well, we have a name! And a product! That's a start, right?

Postmortem Studios Is basically my personal imprint of whatever I want/need to do when I'm not freelancing. I guess I have an emphasis on my own interests which include the 'naughty' and 'controversial' as well as horror and eclectic material. My main lines are probably the tentacle card games, which sell consistently well, Blood! and .45 (A mashup, 1950s SF/B-move/post apocalypse game).

Currently I'm churning out Freakshow material, which is monsters and adventure seeds for Blood!/MRQ and d20 Modern OGL.

Richard Iorio, co-Rogue of Rogue Games. We publish Colonial Gothic and Thousand Suns. James and I decided to strike out on our own back in 2007, and since then have come to realize we should have done this sooner.

The design philosophy -- if you can call it that -- is simple: Fun.

Currently working on our new game, Shadow, Sword & Spell, which will be out next summer. Besides this, working on new books for Colonial Gothic, and Thousand Suns. Recently -- this past summer -- Graeme Davis has joined us as the Line Developer of Colonial Gothic, and together we are working on growing that line. Already we have three new books set to be released next year.

When I am not designing and writing, I try to sleep.

WJ MacGuffin here of Happy Bishop Games. I used to write stuff for Paranoia (Mongoose edition) under the pen name "Bill O'Dea" before striking out on my own. (Mostly because Mongoose fired my ass to save money.) Thanks to Zachary for starting this thread!

Happy Bishop Games currently has one finished product: Chrysalis Revolt, a short parlor narration rpg recently mentioned on the All Games Considered podcast. It is free! Download until my hosting plan bursts!

We have one game in serious development: Triune, a science fiction game combining hard sf and religion. It's a mix of Traveller, In Nomine, and Paranoia. It will be out once 1) we have the time to finish writing background material, 2) we download decent-enough art, and 3) I stop tinkering with the rules. I'm never finished! Details can be found on our website.

We have three other games in occasional development. Teria combines the spirit of Paranoia with 4E GSL rules. Fugue is a Lacuna Pt. 1 mod influenced by Jungian psychology. Lastly, Schemata is Dan Brown-meets-The Matrix

Our design plan is to release rpgs that are fun but also make you think. For example, Chrysalis Revolt centers around cruelty to genetically engineered servant-creatures. You can win the game by being good to the creatures OR by being unspeakably cruel to them. Our hope is to spark thoughts or even debate about treatment of people, pets, etc. and whether you should "win" a game by being evil.

I hope to discuss, debate, and argue with y'all soon over small press topics like finding artwork, setting prices, etc. Good luck!

Chaotic Shiny Productions is also in the "smallest of the small" category as I run it myself, not counting the art, which I hire out for. Our first product, Martial Flavor, is launching this Sunday so I'm a little excited and a lot panicky.

Our focus is on flavorful supplements for 4e D&D, though there will probably be systemless things at some point. Next after Martial Flavor is the Martial Cultures series, which will expand on the cultures introduced in Martial Flavor, and then Arcane Flavor, followed eventually by Divine Flavor and Primal Flavor.

This site is a bit of a godsend to me, since I'm starting from zero at just about everything. My main site, Chaotic Shiny generators, gets plenty of hits, but it's not very well-known in the gamer community.

Nevermet Press is represented here by me, and michael brewer (aka Mad Brew) - as well as about a dozen or more NMP contributors. We've thus far only developed our website content - but our first eBook/PDF should be available soon.

I suppose I also represent Open Game Table -- although it's not really a "press" per se. I'm just thankful that Studio2Publishing picked up the book for distribution. Vol 2 is something that will see the light next year no doubt.
