Role Play Media Network

a community for rpg bloggers, podcasters, vidcasters, and their audiences

I figured I start the feedback post. I'm still poking around and getting the feel for the platform, but I'll come back once I form some solid opinions.

I think this is a pretty effective platform to facilitate member interaction on a level that isn't effective at the individual blog level. I particularly see the Groups utility getting a lot of use. I already created a couple myself, and see it as a method to seek advice & commentary, to organize and plan inter-blog events, and as a way for the audience to find specific content; especially since you can jump right to a member's profile and see their latest feeds.

That's the plan.

The official URL is roleplaymedia.net, and everything is on track to go live with an official announcement Monday.

Does this platform handle feed aggregation? Seems like this could be a simple drag-in-drop replacement for the RPGN if it does. Nice job on taking the initiative Berin.

Just testing the waters with this post. Seems like an interesting platform so far.

I like Ning - plus it has a beautiful mobile site. Also it seems like a lot of people are joining, so I have a good feeling about this.

Yeah, the only thing to be concerned about is continued interest when the shiny wears off.

The only thing I've found awkward so far is the chat function. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong (or just haven't stumbled across the right filters yet) but when one enters the chat room it seems to show everyone online as if they were also in the chat room, even if they're not. Which means, for example, there may be 18 people listed, but only two who are actively using the chat function...
Is there a filter/feature I should be using that will allow only the folks who are actively using the chat function to show up as "in the chat"?

I think it's because the chat room is at the very bottom of the main page.

I don't think this is meant to be that sort of utility. Rather than a feed aggregate, it's a community first and a collection of links later. The links are important but shouldn't eclipse the community aspect in any way.

I do with that topics with replies migrated to the top of the list so you could see what was active, otherwise this has the very fast ability to get lost in the shuffle.

I like the customizability of your "My Page," but haven't found a way to take off some of the more pointless widgets like "My Music," "My Gifts," and "Birthdays." I can move them, and have shuffled them to the end of my middle column, but it'd be nice to be able to remove bits you don't want.
